The 25th of April 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of our brave ANZAC's landing on the shores of ANZAC Cove. This small cove, only 600 metres in length and perhaps the most famous location on the Gallipoli Peninsular, is where the men of the ANZAC corps first came ashore on 25 April 1915 and were sent immediately into battle along the Second Ridge.
On the go has been escorting travellers to Gallipoli for the ANZAC Day Commemorative Services for well over a decade, honouring the 36,000 Commonwealth Servicemen who died here during the campaign. 2015 will be our 17th year. We are in communication with the Australian Department of Veterans Affairs, who are part of the 2015 Organising Committee and aim to assist them in any way possible.
Our most recent correspondence (May 2011) with the department is as follows:
‘Though planning for the Anzac Day commemorations overseas in 2015 is in its infancy, the Australian Government anticipates that a large number of Australians will seek to travel to Turkey to attend commemorations at Gallipoli in 2015..........
The ongoing dialogue the Department has with the travel and tourism sectors in Australia and overseas will be important in our planning for 2015 services. On the Go's considerable experience in this area provides you with a unique perspective with regard to how services are accessed, delivered and received by clients. The Department will continue to engage you and the broader travel and tourism sector in consultation and discussions about the Centenary commemorations as we move forward. We would therefore be very grateful if you could keep us informed of your planning’.
If you are planning on making the pilgrimage to Gallipoli for the 100th Anniversary in 2015 you are able to reserve a position on a tour with us now or pay a deposit toward a tour, yet to be released. We envisage that we will be able to operate our entire suite of ANZAC Day tours (those that are 6 days or longer), very similar to those that currently appear on our website. We understand that attendance may be capped and as such making a reservation in advance may prove prudent. Please contact us for further details.
Despite not being able to guarantee exactly how the commemorations on ANZAC Eve and ANZAC Day will be conducted we are able to guarantee all other elements of a few tours that are ON SALE NOW. Prices and touring arrangements relevant to ANZAC Commemorations in 2015 on the following tours are subject to change.
