Accommodation in China

As one would expect, China offers a range of incredibly luxurious and modern hotels, the most popular chain being the award winning Shangri-La Hotels. But the beauty of tailor-making your own holiday in China is that there is a vast range of hotels from 3-star up to 5 star deluxe, so we will do our best to find a centrally located hotel within your budget, providing you with the equivalent Western rating, in accordance with the style and type of facilities and amenities on offer. Be aware that choices of traditional or smaller boutique hotels are somewhat limited in China. Nevertheless we are able to offer some unique accommodation experiences, such as a hotel at the top of Yellow Mountain or and eco lodge by the Great Wall.

Pricing Guidelines for Private Holidays in China

Prices can vary considerably for tailor-made travel as the quality of hotels, places visited and time of travel is entirely up to you. In addition, you may choose to have a private guide to escort your right through your holiday in China, or simply have the services of local Chinese guides at each port of call. Prices also vary by the number of people in your travelling party, as fixed costs like transportation and guiding are shared across each group. For an indication of the sorts of prices to expect for a private holiday in China, please have a look at some of the Private Journeys featured on our website. These are based on two people travelling, sharing a twin/double room.

Getting around China whilst on holiday

• Road Travel: Airport transfers and road travel at each port of call will be in our own chauffeur driven, private air-conditioned cars and minivans all of a modern European standard.
• Air Travel: We recommend covering large distances by internal flights which are normally on scheduled services with local airlines.
• Train Travel: China has an excellent rail network, which makes overnight travel quick and comfortable. All 4-berth sleeper cabins, known as ‘soft sleepers’ are fitted with bunk beds, air–conditioning, lockable doors, linen and even a soft pair of slippers.
• Yangtze Cruising: At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world and offers breathtaking sights along the way such as The Three Gorges, making it a popular option whilst in China. Offering cosy air-conditioned twin bedded well appointed cabins and numerous guest facilities, 3-meals per day are provided.
• Living it Local: To add a bit of flavour to your travels through China we can organise bike riding in Xi’an on the medieval City Wall and boat rides along the waterways of Suzhou, known as the Oriental Venice!
