Day 1: Cairo
Saturday. Welcome to the land of the Pharaohs and the start of your family holiday! Arrive Cairo, included transfer to hotel and overnight. Overnight - Cairo
Today, we visit the pyramids and Sphinx at Giza Plateau. Sole survivors from the ancient Greek-listed Seven Wonders of the World. Gaze in awe at the largest of the three great pyramids - Cheops, constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks it took more than 20 years to construct. Afterward we enjoy a camel ride accross the desert sands. Overnight - Cairo (B)

The Pyramids of Giza
Cairo - Aswan. Today, we venture in search of the treasures of King Tutankhamen, mummies and more at the Egyptian Museum. Later we tour the Islamic Citadel of Saladin with views looking down over the old city, watching people go about their daily life. We conclude the day with a market walk through the bustling Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Time to freshen up, this evening we take the comfortable overnight sleeper train to Aswan. Explore the Nubian city of Aswan with a guided walk of the local market and souq. Stunningly situated right on the Nile, a walk along the river corniche to view the many boats is a real treat, as is Aswan bazaar. Free afternoon. Overnight - Aswan (B)
Day 5: Free time
Free morning or opt for the morning excursion to Abu Simbel. The remainder of the afternoon at leisure; maybe relax by the pool, take a stroll along the Nile corniche or explore the ever lively market place. Overnight - Aswan (B)
Felucca sailing on the River Nile in Egypt
Aswan - Luxor. This morning we undertake a felucca cruise around some of the islands located on the Nile, stopping at Sahal island where we visit a local village and school (if open); sometimes there is even a local football game in action. Lunch will be served in the home of an Egyptian family followed by the train north to Luxor, one of the world’s greatest open-air museums. The 4000 year old site of ancient Thebes, known today as Luxor, is our base for the next three days. Overnight - Luxor (B, L)
This morning we have the option to go [[hot air ballooning1455]] before visiting Karnak Temple. More than a temple, Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, pylons, statuettes and obelisks. Built on a grand scale, Karnak is probably Egypt’s finest ancient temple. Free afternoon or wander along Luxor’s historic waterfront. This evening, we travel in horse-drawn carriages to the illuminated Temple of Luxor where we enjoy a tour in the cool evening air. Rest of evening free. Overnight - Luxor (B)
A family at the Valley of the Kings in Luxor
Luxor - Cairo. Rise and shine! Today, we visit Luxor’s legendary West Bank - home to the famous Valleys of the Kings, the imposing colonnaded temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the gigantic Colossi of Memnon. See how the ancient Egyptians confounded tomb robbers with the construction of elaborate catacombs, once filled with treasures and highly decorated to allow the pharaoh passage to the afterlife. Tonight, we return to Cairo by sleeper train. Overnight - Sleeper Train (B, D)

Monday. Tour ends after breakfast and included onward transfer to airport. (B)
