Postcards
Here's what some of our past travellers have written in to us and said about their experiences on this trip.
Thank you for all the wonderful times we have had during our tour in Egypt. I have wished to travel to Egypt for most of my adult life and doing it with on the go has allowed me to see everything I’ve always wanted to see and much more. We are so happy to have experienced Egypt in such a wonderful way.
Richard & Gemma, Jun 2010
My expectations where exceeded. Crew where highly professional & good fun; hotels the best I’ve ever stayed in;
Jodie Martin, Jun 2010
Cairo was loud and bustling, with the surreal sight of the pyramids peeking out from behind residential aparment blocks. Our sightseeing covered all of the hotspots- the pyramids and Sphinx were crazy architectual miracles - possibly alien assisted! From Cairo we caught an overnight train down to Aswan. Steve and I had upgraded to a sleeper cabin, and I'd have to say I had the best nights sleep I'd had in weeks! Not to mention the toilet at the end of the carriage was dissapointingly civilized!
We spent 2 very lazy days on a felucca floating down the Nile, and everyone swam in it! The feluccas are the traditional sailboats of the Nile, with a wooden deck covered with cushions, and no onboard bathroom facilities. The Nubian felucca captains tortured us with a stereo blasting either Celine Dion, Bob Marley, Aqua or Akon!
We disembarked at Luxor, where we visited enough temples and tombs to satisfy the biggest history nerd - (of which neither of us are) so by the end we were all ancient historied out. The Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings were the stand outs, it just blows the mind that these places have been around for thousands of years.
Our guide Sherrif was truly excellent, and very highly educated in all things about Egypt. But instead of droning on at the sights, his explanations were fun and engaging.
Dahab on the other hand is a quiet waterfront suburb, with the newer bigger resorts popping up out of town. We snorkelled at the Blue Hole, a coral reef that leaves the Great Barrier Reef in Oz looking kinda dismal. You literally walked off the road, 3 meters to the water, and about 5 meters out it was like the edge of the continent just dropped away.
The highlight was watching a sea turtle gliding along so peacefully, I felt so blessed to be able to share this space with him, if only for a few moments.
In the afternoons we would head into town, sit down at a cafe, listen to the call to prayer and watch the fading light illuminate the town, and the coloured lights reflect in the still water. Bliss.
Jessica & Steve, Jun 2010
The tour was organized so well and seamlessly that I enjoyed every second of it. The staff were all so informed and prepared to answer all our questions.
I feel we definitely had he advantage of being with on the go over the other tour groups, because it seemed Sam, our guide, knew everything about Egypt and always knew the best times to go to the sites.
I am definitely coming back to Egypt and will book with on the go without a doubt.
Emma Acorn, May 2010
I was not so keen to come to Egypt when my friend suggested it, but turned out to be a life changing experience. To say that I have stood at the Pyramids and marvelled at them, cruised down the Nile, saw Abu Simbel at sunrise and got in a hot air balloon over the Vally of the Kings was something I will never forget.
Michael Lowe, May 2010
I loved Dahab, a great way to end a great tour! The guide was friendly, funny and always willing to help. Will definitely recommend on the go Egypt to all my friends and family, Thank you.
Carol, May 2010
Every part of the tour was better than expected.
Hotels were top quality, guide very knowledgeable and fun.
Felucca sailing was so relaxing, one of the highlights for sure, next to Dahab :)
Michael Schulz, May 2010
Our guide was excellent, calm, very organized and positive.
I enjoyed the extra activities, jewelry workshop, Nubian dinner, ancient temple... it was all out of this world. Thanks
Katy Lacek, May 2010
