The Festival of Light is the most important and joyous festival in the Hindu calendar. The festival is mainly associated with lights because it is called the festival of light. People decorate their homes and put flowers and mango leaves on their doors and windows. On this day, people worship Lord Ganesha and exchange sweets and gifts with friends, relatives and neighbors.
At night, countless oil lamps are lit to show Rama the way home from his period of exile. In all the festival lasts five days.
